Peat bath salt Peat belongs to peats. It is an organic mass resulting from plants
humification (decay) processes under the influence of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in an abundant environment
into the water. Low peat is the most common and occurs in 89% of peat bogs in Poland. It arises in places
in lakes, in overgrowing river beds, from plants requiring large amounts of mineral salts. Contents
mineral parts may constitute up to 50% of the dry matter. However, mud is suitable for medicinal purposes
not containing more than 25% of minerals. Due to the high content of alkali metals in the combination
with humic acids and the resulting alkaline reaction, there are conditions favorable for development
microorganisms. This promotes faster decomposition of peat-forming plants and the release of proteins from these plants,
sugars, pectins, alkaloids, resins and waxes. The high degree of decomposition of peat increases its medicinal value.
Chemical composition of mud
- organic ingredients - incompletely decomposed plant ingredients, e.g. lignin,
cellulose, bitumens (waxes, resins, asphalts, fats), - humic acids - fulvo acids, humic acids, amino acids.
Humic acids cause:
- inhibiting the activity of hyaluronidase and other enzymes,
- stimulation of granulocyte function,
- binding of oligosaccharides on the cell surface,
- stimulation of smooth muscles,
- dilation of blood vessels,
- creating complex connections with various compounds,
- inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, sorption and ion exchange with ions of other metals.
- biologically active substances of the hormonal type. Hormonal effect of peloids,
involves stimulating the secretion of ovarian, adrenal and pituitary hormones
and the direct action of estrogen bodies present in the peat, - enzymes, antibiotics and microbiological ingredients
- inorganic ingredients - mineral salts, i.e. magnesium, potassium, aluminum, sodium sulfates, compounds
iron, silicon and calcium.
