Escin, by inhibiting the action of the hyaluronidase enzyme, prevents the decomposition of hyaluronic acid, the main binder of the vascular endothelium. Escin also inhibits the breakdown of other enzymes (hydrolysis) - destabilizing and breaking down the structure of vessels. This medicinal substance also increases the resistance of microvessels to rupture - thus preventing blood plasma exudations and the resulting swelling;
