Escin inhibits the harmful enzyme hyaluranidase, which is responsible for "damaging" the walls of blood vessels. Escin, by inhibiting the action of the hyaluronidase enzyme, prevents the decomposition of hyaluronic acid, the main binder of the vascular endothelium. Escin also inhibits the breakdown of other enzymes (hydrolysis) - destabilizing and breaking down the structure of vessels. This medicinal substance also increases the resistance of microvessels to rupture - thus preventing blood plasma exudations and the resulting swelling;
